Matt is a passionate and professional drum circle facilitator with 6 years of facilitation experience, over 14 years of teaching experience, nearly three decades of drumming expertise, and a degree from Berklee College of Music. His enthusiasm and engaging facilitation style captivate crowds, making the drumming process exciting and enjoyable. The Beginning
Matt’s lifelong passion for music started at age 8 when he received his first drum set from his father and quickly began playing along to his favorite music. Throughout middle school and high school Matt played in various bands, began taking drum lessons and became more serious about his love for music. Matt’s musical journey continued when he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied performance and business. In 2009, he graduated with a degree in Professional Music, paving the way for his successful career as a musician and educator.
Musician

He then co-founded State College Rock Camp in 2010, providing students with an opportunity to learn the skills needed to play in a band.
From 2010 to 2019, Matt instructed a Rock Band program at Centre Learning Community Charter School in State College, PA, where he taught middle school students the techniques required to perform in a contemporary music setting.
In 2014, Matt began publishing online drum set lessons on YouTube and his website, providing students with supplementary materials to enhance their weekly lessons. Subscribe to his YouTube channel to stay up to date with the latest drum set lessons and performance videos.

Since then, he has facilitated countless drum circles for people of all ages, interests, and skill levels. These include team building drum circles, workshops and retreats, music for senior facilities, and drum circles for kids.
Through the power of group music making, drum circles aim to empower and inspire individuals to express themselves authentically.
Matt is a proud member of the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild and in August of 2023 Matt completed the 6-Day Facilitator training in Hawaii with Arthur Hull (Village Music Circles).

Currently, he teaches drum set lessons at Sunburst School of Music in Pittsburgh, sharing his expertise with aspiring musicians. When he’s not teaching, he performs with his band The Deep Casual, showcasing his original music. Additionally, he offers solo improvised drumming and is available to provide Music for Yoga Classes. With his diverse set of skills, Matt brings his passion for music to a wide range of settings and audiences.
